Karina and Juan Ramirez / Bulgaria

The Ramírez family — Karina, Juan Carlos and Darah — serve in Bulgaria as educators and social community workers.

They also teach Spanish language as an evangelistic strategy to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They work with both children and adults.

Karina, who comes from Bulgarian descent, thought that one day God was going to move her to Bulgaria. Juan did a short-term missions trip to Bulgaria where God showed him that He wanted to use him in that place.

The Ramírez’ are passionate about sharing their faith and seeing God’s transformative power at work in those around them.

Some important facts about Bulgaria:

Bulgaria is in a special geographic position at the end of the European continent right at the border with Asia.

It’s on the way for many who are fleeing extreme poverty in Turkey and the Ukraine. It also borders North Macedonia, Greece, Serbia, Romania, and others. This location has been strategic for migrants, traders, and refugees throughout history. It is also said that the Apostle Paul passed through these lands while on his way to Greece.

Christianity stands between 1 and 2% of the Bulgarian population. The many religions in the country highlight the need for the Gospel in the country. Katrina and Juan feel privileged to be ambassadors of Christ in the lands that call out to the Apostle Paul: “Come to Eastern Europe and help us.”
